I know this has nothing to do with Tribal Fest or Kajira, except for the fact that I took her with me.....
Has anyone seen the movie yet?
Kinda like watching the movie "Titanic" you know how it is going to end and it is sad....
It was neat seeing the "behind the scenes" stuff... as a DJ who likes gear, not enough equipment stuff,,, but really, for us, is there ever?
Nope this was all about MJ and his last performance which as anyone could tell, would have been outstanding.
The work that he put in and the set, show and special effects, all would have been great. But it's hard not to think that, or know that being who he was. He was Michale Jackson,,,,
A lot of the movie was nothing really special but my wife cried at a few of the sentimental parts and she isn't even a "fan"...
I think I only saw a Moonwalk for a brief shot during Billie Jean. This was right after I told my wife that he has some signature moves from some of his videos that he HAS to do.
I said that after watching them do "Beat It",,,,, the moves, or a lot of them were right out of the video...
The extra or new video that they were shooting for what I would guess was to play on the screens during the show, was really neat. Seeing how they did it and imagining what it was going to look like was cool. The "Thriller" part would be epic!
The special effects with the fireworks and flames,,,, nice touch, again, just makes me really wish I could have seen the show....
He said in an early part of the movie, that he was going to give the fans what they wanted. He knew what songs we would want to hear and what moves we wanted to see....
He had planned a Jackson 5 Medley and it was there that you could tell how much his voice had changed,,,, duh!! he's 50 not 12!
When he sang "I'll Be There" my wife was disappointed. Me, I just remember that song as the first slow song I ever danced with a girl to.... where is Brenda Stauber today? Hummmm LOL
For me the movie had a sad tone because, like I said, you knew how it was going to end....
Would I say run down and see it,,,, well the soundtrack kicks, it's nice to hear that bass and kick drum though the theaters sound system (makes me wanna buy more stuff), but it's not like it wouldn't be as cool seeing it at home..... I'm glad we went.
I give it 4 outa 5 stars....

Re: MJ's "This Is It"
Tue, November 10, 2009 - 7:21 AMI just saw `This Is It` and I loved it.
as an artist, a dancer, a performer it was very inspiring. no doubt you can enjoy! and yeah there was a part where tears were rolling down my cheeks too. i was never a fan, but like everyone else i grew up with him around... well now i have a great new respect for him as an artist.
I was so impressed with his keen sense of knowing exactly how he wanted things, the way the music needs to be, the timing, the cues, everything. I was impressed with his perfectionism, and even more so with his kindness, and gentle demeanor.
I loved the "Im trying to adjust my inner ear.... with love" (the Jackson 5 part)
it was beautiful to see his vulnerability and also how sensitive he was
and to see the whole creative process of putting the show together, on that kind of scale, was very impressive.
I Loved the dancers, and everyone around him, the musicians, and Ortega. They were all excellent. Im glad the movie came out, so that they could have their moment to shine as well.
i cant imagine how insane it must have been, first of all the unbelievable excitement of their out of this world dream to perform with him coming true, and then the even more shocking and unbelievable news that no actually it was never gonna happen
also I loved the dance audition, they were all amazingly talented dancers, but what it came down to was "If you don't have that goo, that ooze, coming out of you, you're not gonna get the job"
even though the shows didnt happen, i think this movie redeems his reputation as an incredible artist up to the end.
loved it
